A visit to Lorsch, located in the south of
Hessen, can be combined with other
monuments: Worms and Speyer are
within easy travelling distance as are
the monasteries of Michelstadt-
Steinbach and Seligenstadt, both of
which were founded in Carolingian
times. The World Natural Heritage Site
of Messel Pit, near Darmstadt, is also
